Getting started ๐
From zero to a protected, welcoming server in about ten minutes.
1. Invite BMO
Use the Invite button on bmobot.bot and approve the bot in Discord. You need Manage Server permission on the server you're adding it to.
The invite requests the permissions BMO's modules use: Manage Roles, Manage Channels, Kick & Ban Members, Manage Messages, Moderate Members (timeouts), and View Audit Log.
Role order matters: drag BMO's role above the roles it should manage (member roles, the jailed role) in Server Settings โ Roles. The bot can never moderate anyone whose top role is above its own.2. Sign in to the dashboard
Go to bmobot.bot and hit Sign in with Discord. Every server where you have Manage Server and BMO is a member appears automatically โ click one to open it.
On your first visit a short guided tour shows you around; replay it anytime with the โจ Tour button in the header.
3. Follow the Getting Started checklist
Your server's Overview page has a checklist that tracks the essentials and links straight to each settings page:
- Log channels โ where audit, security, and protection events get posted.
- Welcome messages โ greet new members with a custom embed. Details โ
- Jail system โ one command isolates a troublemaker, with roles backed up. Details โ
- Anti-nuke โ protection against mass bans/kicks/deletions. Details โ
- Member guard โ alt & raid detection on join. Details โ
- Self roles โ let members pick their own roles. Details โ
- Voice hub โ optional personal voice rooms. Details โ
4. Learn the day-to-day tools
Once set up, these are the things you'll touch most:
