Voice rooms đŸŽ™ī¸

Every member gets their own voice channel on demand — and it cleans itself up when they leave.

What are voice rooms?

Instead of maintaining a long list of "General 1", "General 2", "Gaming 3" channels that sit empty most of the day, you create one hub channel. When someone joins the hub, BMO instantly creates a personal voice channel for them — named after them, in the same category — and moves them into it. They own that room: they can lock it, hide it, cap how many people can join, and kick people out, all from a button panel. When the last person leaves, BMO deletes the room automatically.

The result is a voice section that's exactly as big as it needs to be at any moment, with zero channel clutter and no moderator babysitting.

Setting up the hub

You need one existing voice channel to act as the hub — most servers name it something like ➕ Create a room or Join to create. Put it in the category where you want the personal rooms to appear, because new rooms are created in the same category as the hub.

BMO needs Manage Channels (to create and delete rooms) and Move Members (to move people into their new room) in that category. If it's missing either, joining the hub will quietly do nothing — no error message, just no room. If the hub "isn't working", check these permissions first.

What members experience

  1. A member joins the hub voice channel.
  2. BMO creates a channel called <their name>'s VC in the same category and moves them into it. They are recorded as the room's owner.
  3. Friends join them there, they hang out, and they use the VoiceMaster panel to control the room.
  4. When everyone leaves, BMO deletes the channel.

Rooms are temporary by design. On top of the instant delete-when-empty, BMO also runs a sweep every few minutes that removes any empty room that slipped through (for example after a bot restart), so stale channels never pile up.

Because rooms are deleted when empty, they don't keep custom settings between sessions. Each visit to the hub creates a fresh room with default settings — members re-apply Lock, limits, and so on each time.

The VoiceMaster panel

The panel is a message with ten buttons that members press to control their own room. Post it once in a text channel everyone can see — a #voice-controls channel next to your voice category works well.

The panel's buttons are persistent: they keep working forever, even after BMO restarts. You only need to post it once. Every button reply is private — only the person who pressed the button sees the response, so the panel channel stays clean.

What each button does

To use the buttons you must be inside a room BMO created, and for everything except Claim you must be that room's owner. Pressing a button while sitting in a normal voice channel (or someone else's room) just gets you a private "not allowed" note.

ButtonWhat it does
🔒 LockStops anyone new from joining your room. People already inside stay connected — great for "we're full, no more randoms" moments.
🔓 UnlockUndoes Lock so people can join again.
đŸ‘ģ GhostHides your room from the channel list and blocks joining. To everyone else it's as if the room doesn't exist.
💡 RevealUndoes Ghost — the room is visible and joinable again.
👑 ClaimTakes ownership of the room you're sitting in, if the original owner has left it. While the owner is still in the room, Claim is refused. This is the one button non-owners can use.
🔌 DisconnectDisconnects everyone in your room — including you. Since that empties the room, BMO deletes it right after. Think of it as "close the room".
🎮 Start (activity)Reserved for future voice activities (watch-together, games). Pressing it today just tells you activities aren't set up yet.
â„šī¸ ViewShows a private summary of your room: name, user limit, whether it's locked or ghosted, and how many people are inside. Only you see it.
➕ IncreaseRaises the user limit. An unlimited room becomes limited to 1; after that each press adds one, up to 99.
➖ DecreaseLowers the user limit by one. Going below 1 removes the limit entirely (back to unlimited).
Lock and Ghost work by changing what the @everyone role can do on that one channel. Members whose roles or permissions override @everyone (admins, moderators with channel-wide access) may still be able to see or join a locked room — that's Discord permissions working as intended.

Owner commands

Two slash commands give room owners a bit more control than the panel. Anyone can use them — but only inside a BMO-created room they own, so there's nothing to configure or restrict.

CommandWhat it does
/vckick @memberDisconnects one specific person from your room. You must be in your own room, and the member must currently be in it.
/vcdisconnectallDisconnects everyone from your room (yourself included) — the same as the panel's Disconnect button. The now-empty room is then deleted.
A kicked member can simply rejoin an unlocked room. If you want them to stay out, press Lock (or Ghost) first, then /vckick them.
